QUI SOMMES-NOUS?
Pamoja (veut dire “ensemble” en Kiswahili) Afrique de l’Ouest est composé des réseaux de 14 pays membres que sont : le Bénin, le Burkina Faso, la Guinée-Bissau, la Guinée, la Gambie, le Ghana, le Libéria, le Mali, le Niger, le Nigeria, le Sénégal, la Sierra-Leone ; le Togo et le Maroc.
Pamoja Afrique de l’Ouest a été officiellement enregistrée au Mali le 18 février 2009 et son siège est basé au sein de l’ONG malienne Jeunesse et Développement à Bamako. Depuis mars 2014, le réseau est géré depuis le bureau de coordination basé à Cotonou au carré 461 Sikècodji, Maison CHITOU Wassi . Les instances du réseau sont :
- L’Assemblée Générale qui est composée de deux représentants (un homme et une femme) des pays membres de Pamoja Afrique de l’ouest, un représentant du gouvernement du pays hôte et de deux représentants des partenaires techniques et financiers qui n’ont pas le droit de vote
- Le Conseil d’Administration, composé de cinq membres ayant pour mandat d’appuyer et de superviser le travail de la coordination sous-régionale
- La Coordination sous-régionale, responsable de la visibilité des actions du réseau, gère le quotidien du réseau et sert d’interface entre le réseau, ses membres et ses partenaires du secteur public et privé
REFLECT
Reflect est une approche de développement communautaire et de changement social qui permet aux groupes marginalisés de comprendre et d’influencer les dynamiques de pouvoir ayant un effet sur leurs vies, à travers la validation de leur savoir-faire et savoir être, l’alphabétisation et la communication. Reflect tire ses idées principales des concepts de Paolo Freire, de la MARP (Méthode Accélérée de Recherche Participative) et de l’analyse genre. PAMOJA et ses membres estiment que REFLECT et d’autres approches d’alphabétisation participatives et interdisciplinaires sont indispensables pour que « l’Education Pour Tous » devienne une réalité.
LES OBJECTIFS DE PAMOJA AFRIQUE DE L’OUEST
- FORMATION : Renforcer les capacités techniques et institutionnelles de ses membres et des parties prenantes pour l’éducation des adultes et l’éducation non formelle (EA/ENF)
- RÉSAUTAGE : Faciliter l’échange mutuel entre les membres du réseau en vue de faire face aux défis des systèmes d’éducation des adultes et d’éducation non formelle (réseautage)
- PLAIDOYER : Faire le plaidoyer pour une plus grande prise en compte du sous-secteur EA/ENF dans le développement des systèmes d’éducation en Afrique de l’Ouest et une allocation significante des ressources financières pour le sous-secteur
WHO ARE WE?
Pamoja means "Together" in Swahili. Pamoja West Africa is a Network of Non-Governmental Organizations that fights for the right to education of young people and adults, especially women. It was created in 2008 and brings together fifteen (15) countries that are active in the field of Adult Learning and Education.
Reflect is an approach of community development and social change that enables marginalized groups to understand and influence the power dynamics that affect their lives, through the validation of their skills and experiences, literacy and communication. For us, literacy is understood as the ongoing process of acquiring and using reading, writing and calculating, as well as the analytical understanding of the political, social, and economic environment that contributes to individual and collective development.
The authorities and bodies of Pamoja AO are:
- the General Assembly, which is the body for deliberation and decision-making,
- the Board of Directors, the body that oversees the execution of the decisions of the General Assembly and,
- the sub-regional coordination which executes the action plans according to the orientations of the General Assembly and the Board of Directors.
Since 2017, Pamoja West Africa implements its strategic plan which describes its raison-d'être and ambitions until 2021.

A world where everyone can influence decisions that affect them by actively participating in the social, economic, political, environmental and cultural life of their community.
- Mission
Promote and facilitate access to lifelong quality education for young people and adults, with a view to contributing to sustainable and equitable development in Africa.
- Aim
Advocate for the promotion of literacy through the use of the Reflect Approach as an effective tool for community empowerment.
- Objectives
- Promote the use of participatory methods in the education of young people and adults,
- Support the empowerment of young people and adults through education and learning,
- Advocate for the use of participatory methods such as Reflect in educational programs.
- Strategic axes
Four strategic axes guides Pamoja interventions:
- Promotion of quality in the implementation of the Reflect approach: Strengthen the capacities of literacy and NFE actors and ensure the monitoring and evaluation of policies, programs and actions to guarantee quality.
- Advocacy so as for literacy and non-formal education: Work to increase the budget allocated to the Literacy and NFE, the design and implementation of policy documents, the professionalization of stakeholders and the collection of reliable statistical data to promote better planning.
- Governance: Hold regular statutory meetings (AGM and CA) for consensual and transparent decisions and actions, with accountability.
- Networking: Strengthen the influence and visibility of the network and build partnerships to achieve its goals.
