The Consortium of Professional Literacy Organizations in Togo, abbreviated as "COPA-TOGO," is a Development Organization established under the law of 1901, born from the Constitutive General Assembly of February 12, 2008. It is registered with the Ministry of State, Territorial Administration, Decentralization, and Local Communities under number 0578 of February 21, 2008, and recognized under receipt number 0322 / MATDCL-SG-DLPAP-DOCA of May 25, 2010. Its headquarters is located in Sokodé. Its aim is to promote functional literacy among the populations of the Central Region in general and women in particular. COPA-TOGO is a member of RESODERC. It collaborates closely with the Regional Directorate of Education and Non-formal Education, the Regional Directorate of Social Action, and other NGOs and Associations promoting literacy in the Central Region of Togo.

OUR VISION
The vision of COPA-TOGO is the eradication of illiteracy among peoples in general and the Tem people in particular.

OUR MISSION
The mission of COPA-TOGO is to synergize the efforts of its members to promote adult education through literacy.

OUR OBJECTIVE

  • To train and strengthen the capacities of member NGOs/Associations;
  • To encourage and facilitate the sharing of information, experiences, and resources among members;
  • To support members in seeking funding for literacy initiatives;
  • To facilitate lobbying and advocacy for the promotion of adult education;
  • To serve as a reference framework for improving literacy approaches;
  • To facilitate a formal partnership among Consortium members;
  • To coordinate members' activities in promoting adult education through literacy.
  • The literacy programs implemented since 2006 have allowed beneficiary communities to:
  • Acquire a change in mentality and accept innovations;
  • Combat poverty;
  • Participate in the establishment of democracy and the rule of law;
  • Promote human rights, especially women's and children's rights;
  • Promote gender equity;
  • Observe and implement measures to combat HIV/AIDS;
  • Promote behavioral change towards the environment, etc.
