ALPHADEV LOGO

ALPHADEV was established as an association in March 2003 by young people and adults sharing common values and principles. It is recognized as an NGO under approval number: NGO: n° 10479 MFSNEFMF/DDC/DONG dated 12-11-2009.

For ALPHADEV, literacy is not an end in itself but an essential lever for the socio-economic emancipation of citizens.

Our literacy concept with the REFLECT* approach goes beyond access to written materials, aiming for sustainable grassroots development so that communities can take charge of their own development, thereby promoting the emergence of a more just and prosperous society.

Mission: To contribute to poverty reduction at the local and national levels by strengthening the capacities and power of populations.

Current Actions:

Capacity building of target groups on Food Security and Nutrition through the REFLECT approach and gender promotion.

In the regions of Kaolack, Thiès, Fatick, Kaffrine, and Tambacounda, ALPHADEV is implementing a functional literacy program to ensure the economic integration of rural youth and adults.

This involves strengthening the technical, organizational, and financial skills and capacities of households with better integration of gender dimensions by 2022. Thus, 1032 beneficiaries, including 1019 women, accounting for 98.7%, and 13 men are enrolled in this project.

The current project named TAWFEEX aims to empower 200 adolescents and youth, 60% of whom are girls, from villages in the commune of Gniby and suburbs of Dakar through strengthening community mechanisms for access to information on sexual and reproductive health, prevention, and combating all forms of gender-based violence.

Project to strengthen the Popular Learning Center for quality inclusive education.

The project aims to enable out-of-school and illiterate youth aged 15 to 25 to obtain professional qualifications and access the job market. Out-of-school children aged 9 to 14 will receive training through bilingual schooling linked to the basic education curriculum. These children will find a new educational offer that, after three years, will enable them to continue their formal education or pursue vocational qualifications within the Popular Learning Center.

Apprenticeship and Poverty Alleviation Project (PALAM2) in the Pekesse commune, Thiès region. PALAM2 provides schooling for 200 out-of-school children aged 9 to 14 and functional and qualifying literacy for 160 women and girls.

"Sàmm Sunu Alal" Program for Participatory Local Economic Governance in the Keur Massar department and the Kaffrine region by 2025: ALPHADEV, with the support of the HEWLETTE Foundation, is implementing its project named "Sàmm Sunu Alal" Program for Participatory Local Economic Governance in the Keur Massar department and the Kaffrine region by 2025.
