This article is about the communities along the Wild Coast who, like many others in South Africa and beyond, are protesting against the multinational oil and gas company Shell’s plans to embark on a major seismic survey between Morgan Bay and Port St Johns. The communities, environmental activists and other concerned citizens are protesting against the enormous harm and destruction that this survey will cause to the ocean and all (human and non-human) who live in it and near it and who are dependent on it for their livelihoods and as a spiritual and healing source.
