The World Food Programme (WFP) issues a warning about 13 million people in the Horn of Africa experiencing severe hunger as a result of the ongoing drought in that region. Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia are facing the driest conditions and the lack of rain in exacerbating existing food shortages. The Regional Drought Response Plan is imperative in avoiding a catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
