The development and maintenance of secure food systems forms an important backbone of a healthy society. The ecological crisis and COVID-19 continue to affect agri-food systems in Sub-Saharan Africa which has worsened food security of households in many African states. In this article, Rapando and Matsaba propose agroecology as an important approach in the design, development and management of sustainable food systems. They discuss the approach and its possibilities for sustainable community food systems.
